Group Profile

Radius is a collection of events and exhibitions that will be taking place during the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art - between April 16th and May 3rd. We'll be publishing events and projects on a map showing the plethora of creative work taking place between the official GI locations.

Radius is all about risk. There are no endorsements, quality controls, there's no funding. It’s a gathering of work that's just happening, and we want to help people who are in the city to find out about it.

Central Station and members of its community are working with ATypical Root, one of the official Gi projects on this project. ATypical Root is a public art trail featuring site-specific commissioned work along the Clyde. We'll be developing, printing and distributing a map, plus working to create an online presence too.

Alongside ATypical Root, Central Station and Radius are hoping to host a party in the centre of the city during the mid-point of Gi. Walks from the West, East, and South of the city will converge on a central location to celebrate all that is bohemian about the amazing flourishing artistic community of Glasgow.

  • Radius is a better explanation, and ethos of the project I am trying to make happen. Radius means events and exhibitions that are within a particular area in relation to something at the heart. The official Gi programme is at the heart, and all of the massive energy of Glasgow creativity generally sits within a radial area all round the city. No judgement values, just an indication of spread and ultimately inclusion. Fringe on the other hand means outer, marginal, extreme. And often unconventional.Looking forward to your Submissions!
