On Sat 6th Feb Censta and members went on Dundee Popup, a tour round the city's creative people and places.  Artists, designers, illustrators, film-makers all gathered for a day of behind the scenes studio tours at Dundee Contemporary Arts, Duncan of Jordanstone and WASPS, private artist talks with Martin Boyce and Daziel and Scullion, plus an exclusive preview of the soon to be opened McManus Gallery after a 4 year refurbishment.

Members were blogging, tweeting and documenting in stills each part of the day, so you can take the tour for yourself. All words and pics are added to this group, and listed in this blog.

As well as a day for members, and the city's creatives to meet and discuss their work and practice, Dundee Popup created some LTD edition artworks. Censta members  SooperDD and Johanna Basford worked together to produce the booklet detailing the day, and Superfly worked with artists from the site to create a poster gallery round the city. To top it all off, we had an evening of talks from members, followed by wine and some rather fine Central Station cakes, created by Nikki McWilliams.

    • Guitar Amp for Portolio Site

    • It may be a bit late (it's almost 4am!) but this is what I've spent the past couple hours on designing in Inkscape (no tutorials here, this was all mine :)) basically, it's based on the Vox AC30 guitar amp which is one of the all time classic choices for Rock 'n' Roll guitarists.. anyway, I got inspired by seeing a job advertised for a graphic design postion at a German electric guitar & bass manufacturer.. I thought about using my love of guitars and rock 'n' roll as the basis for my portfolio website.. and ideas starting building in my head.. once refined a bit more, this amplifier image will be the main intro/front page graphic for my website as well as the design I use for my business card.. the navigation bar will be based on the controls and switches that would be on the top of these amplifiers.. where viewers can go to the various sections of the website  (Portfolio, Blog, CV, Contacts, Links, etc) for the portfolio section itself, this will comprise of about a dozen different guitar effect pedals (stomp boxes) representing 'buttons' for each of the different types of design (logos, tshirts, websites, etc).. these will be 'plugged in' to the amplified image.. clicking on each 'pedal' will display a 'Set List' with the different designs/graphics in that section.. clicking on the names displays the image, etc. I'm still thinking of how to integrate a guitar (of different parts of them) into the website, maybe this'll be part of the blog/contact section..? but yeah, this is gonna be the most rock 'n' roll porfolio website ever seen.. can't wait to start putting the rest of it together :)
