The Mutual is an organisation of GSA Fine Art graduates, formed in an attempt to thwart post-graduate hopelessness.

Initially producing three thematically curated exhibitions at the Southside Gallery, comprised from work from a diverse pool artists. These artists and their work are self-elected, not selected. Recommended to this project by their desire to continue to practice art in Glasgow and each exhibition or event by their adherence to a brief.

Our aims are idealistic, perhaps somewhat naive, in seeking to unbiasedly support and sustain fresh art practice based in Glasgow; to act as a neutral bridge between institutionalised art making and the first foray into the professional realm.

Still running on the summers energy The Mutual have gone on to present local DJ Hudson Mohawke at SWG3 along side the finest animated film offerings from the artists.

With a re-launch and an exhibition at The Duchy on the cards for the New Year, The Mutual is here to stay.

    • Why do I know this? Pamela Anderson went bankrupt, purportedly as she ordered platinum flooring for her bathroom. And so I got to thinking...well, gold is tacky - right? And sliver goes yellow under varnish and tarnishes, and aluminium is cheap. Which makes a platinum floor entirely logical. (Wait a minute - is she crazy!!!!) Photshop, pastel and the amazing metallic indian ink.
