I am trying to get to Stroud to get started in my residency but the snow is holding things up .. I wont be permanently down there but at the museum at certain times for open sessions where visitors can come and see what i am doing .. my workspace is in the 'public house' room of the museum..quite nice to be in a pub as artist in residence !! I will be keeping a blog whilst working on this project which you will find at http://sitblog.co.uk/ and i hope to document the process and development of the work.
I am reseraching the texxile industry in Stroud both past and present from Stroud red felted cloth to the current cloth produced in Stroud ( for billiard tables and tennis balls). I am very interested in the words associated with textile production and hope to collaborate with poet Tawona Sithole in exploring text connected with textiles and trade of textiles http://www.scottishbooktrust.com/contacts/tawona-sithole
more to come
